The Dodge Journey's suspension does a good enough job of soaking up road imperfections, and if you're used to trucky SUVs like Dodge's Durango, you should find it pleasant. However, sudden road dips make the suspension nautically bob up and down more than other crossovers do. Road and wind noise are kept reasonably in check, although the engine can belt out a raspy tune when you start to push it.

Volkswagen Tiguan Performance

Skid pad performance was solid, with the 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan managing 0.80g, a figure that places it at the forefront of its class. Still, keeping the VW on a constant arc at a constant speed proved challenging for our test driver, due to the fact that power delivery from the turbocharged engine was prone to surge. When experienced on the slalom, the Tiguan was dogged by somewhat imprecise steering feedback and long suspension travel. Ultimately, however, our driver found a way to finesse these tendencies, and the Tiguan emerged as one of the quickest CUVs, running through the cones at 63.9 mph.

2009 Acura TSX

Previously a taut sport sedan offering enthusiasts a lively, communicative driving experience along with Acura quality, the Acura TSX has become more of a luxury sedan for 2009. Many consumers will consider the latest version of the TSX to be "nice." Enthusiasts, however, will likely consider it watered down and boring.
